Last Day

Well today is the last day of my internship and I am very grateful for the opportunity to see what it actually feels like to be in a classroom. I had fun giving spelling tests to the first graders and I liked it when I was working with Naethaeal one on one. Yesterday was my last day with him and we were going over the alphabet and in that moment I realized the improvements he has made. He told me most of the alphabet by himself without me helping him. Knowing that he has improved really made me happy. I'm going to miss going to CPS.

Fun Wednesday!

Yesterday the third graders had a relaxing period for Music, since there was a sub they watched a movie. The Movie was ......  Monsters Inc. All the students were excited.

The first graders did a GoNoodle after foundations as a way to shake out the jitter bugs and get ready for their reading activity. The kids decided to do Zumba to the song "I like to move it move it". It was pretty cool to see the kids dancing, laughing, and having fun! Everyday I leave with a smile on my face.

This is so cute! Great way to start another week 😊

Thrid Grade Field Day!!

This Thursday the Thrid Graders are going to have Field Day and I'm a bit excited to see what activities they are going to do. Good thing I'm with Mrs. McNaughton at that time so I won't have to miss being with my first grader. I'm going to be ready with my camera and takes lots of pictures!!!

BrainPop Jr. Cinco de Mayo

Just like the 1st graders, the 3rd graders also use technology in the classrooms to help the students learn basic lessons. This Friday was el cinco de mayo so Mrs. Henderson used BrainPop Jr. to teach the students about Mexico's past and how it is now. After the video is done, Mrs. Henderson asks a few questions for BrainTickets, if the student gets the question correct then they receive one BrainTicket. Those tickets are used for a raffle at the end of each month, the winner gets to choose a prize from the prize box. This is a cool way to make sure the students are paying attention and understanding the lesson.

This quote helps get teachers through the day, keeping this in mind.

Oh the Things I Learn Pt. 2

Its fun to see when the 1st graders get excited when they do a GoNoodle. GoNoodle is a program where each class has there own account and on that account there are different activities for the students to preform. The website is full of fun activities for students where they can take a break from being seated for so long, there is Kids Bob, where the students preform the dance moves that go along with the song that they have chosen. There is also Relaxation with Maximo, where the students preform the movement that Maximo does to calm the students down when they are a bit hyper.

Oh the Things I Learn....

So far my experience with the internship is going pretty well. Each day there's something new to do and its exciting to see how everyday is different. Some are good and some can be bad but that's how its suppose to be, not everything's perfect.

Spring break is almost over

This is so true 😂 😂 . Can't wait for what the rest of the year has for me!!!

#ThrowBackThursday

Throw back to last Wednesday where CPS participated in National Walking Day on April 5th. All the students got to go outside in the field and walk outside for forty minutes. Though it was hot and my First graders were tired they made it through!!!

The school play :)

This past Thursday I got the pleasure to see the middle school play of The Wizard of Oz with the Third graders. We got to see the whole performance as their dress rehearsal. It was really good and fun to see how much talent the upper kids have and also to see the kids really enjoy it was also a plus. Can't wait for the spring concert !!!

Starting a new week with this in mind !!!

Dr. Seuss Week

So this past week the first and third graders have been having little bits of fun with Dr. Seuss for the Read Across America week. Each day the first graders would have a special guest come in the classrooms and read on of Dr. Seuss's books. The students have fun with it and really enjoyed all the little crafts that they ended up doing. In the end of the week the students had a little visit from the Cat in the Hat himself.

Its just fun seeing the kids face light up with joy and excitement knowing that they enjoy being at school. It brings happiness to myself and the feeling itself is overwhelming.

Pre - Spring Concert / First Grade Help

So this Wednesday my Third grade were practicing for the spring concert and let me tell you that they were AMAZING!!! Can't wait for show day!!!!

Also this Wednesday I was helping out one of Mrs. Hicswa's First graders and it was fun! The student just recently came from the Dominican Republic and only speaks Spanish so I help out with him so he can understand what is going on during foundations.

Flashback to the Christmas Concert - Third Grade!

I'm never going to forget how cute my students looked when they were on stage during the Christmas Concert. I am so proud of them! It took a while for them to prepare and get it right but in the end they did a pretty good job. The songs were a bit complicated but with the extra practices on Wednesdays it helped a lot. #thirdgradechristmasconcert
